Leah Batty and Daisy StarkCongratulations go to first year Trainee Nurse Associate, Daisy Stark, who has being given a commendation by the programme lead and nursing assessment board during her first year of a two year Nurse Associate course with Plymouth University.

Daisy said: "I was very proud to receive the letter and it came as a shock following a tough few months. I had felt like I wasn’t doing very well at my coursework and assignments, and had spent a short time away from the course to regather myself – so to receive this praise on a Monday morning was a lovely start to the week and year.

"I am sure that the fantastic support I received from Leah Batty, Nurse Assessor/Senior Practitioner, and the whole of the team at Torridge Adult CMHT helped. I really couldn’t have got this far without them! I have also had great support from the Practice Education team and in particular, the superstar Sarah Hammond.

"I am due to start my second and final year of this course in March and it feels scary to be just a few months away from being a qualified Nursing Associate – however, with the fabulous continued support from everyone I’m sure I’ll be just fine!"

Pippa Baines, Team Manager, said: "Daisy started working in the Bideford Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) as a Business Support Administrator and even in this role, she really stood out to me as someone who was excellent in picking up on key clinical issues or potential dilemmas swiftly and I encouraged her strongly to consider a community support worker role as I saw her potential. She excelled in this role and the rest is history as they say. Daisy is the only student to be given this letter of commendation for this cohort so we are extremely proud of her."
