Closure of the Devon Wellbeing Hub

Posted by Devon Partnership Trust in News, Recovery and wellbeing on 30th January, 2025

It is with great sadness that we share the news that from Friday 31 January, the Devon Wellbeing Hub will no longer be taking new referrals. The service will honour its commitments to staff who are already receiving support.

Despite this change, there is a range of national and local wellbeing resources available to health care, social care and police staff. Please visit your local intranet, or speak to your manager, for more information about the support available within your own organisation.

The Hub launched in March 2021 as one of 40 national NHS mental health and wellbeing hubs, offering confidential support for healthcare, social care and police staff impacted by COVID-19.

National funding for the hubs stopped in March 2023 but, thanks to local funding from across the system, the Hub has been able to continue offering support since then.

The team are proud to have helped thousands of colleagues across Devon over the past four years. Last year alone, more than 4,800 people were supported through individual and team interventions.

Speaking about their experience of the Hub, one colleague said: “The Hub provided a much needed and timely support offer for the team working in the pandemic response over a long period of time. The sessions were followed up a year later to offer a final reflective session and support the team’s recovery and new ways of working. It was great to collectively understand that it’s ok to not be ok.”

Liz Perry, Chief People Officer for Devon Partnership NHS Trust, said: “I’d like to express my heartfelt thanks to the team at the Devon Wellbeing Hub for their remarkable work, dedication and compassion, and to those who have supported the service.  The Hub has provided a crucially important service since launching four years ago. It offered invaluable support for key workers throughout the pressures of COVID-19, and has continued to help individuals and teams with all aspects of their wellbeing beyond the pandemic.

“Although, due to funding challenges, the Hub will no longer continue, we remain committed to supporting you with your health and wellbeing and there are many resources available to help you. I encourage you to reach out for help if you need it.”
