Children and Family Health Devon’s annual hamper project

Posted by Devon Partnership Trust in Charity, News on 16th August, 2024

HamperChildren and Family Health Devon’s annual Christmas hamper project is once again set to bring warmth and support to young people and care leavers under Devon and Torbay Social Care. Now in its fourth year, this initiative continues to grow, providing essential items and heartfelt gifts that make a real difference.

Reflecting on the journey
Starting in 2020 with just 100 hampers, the project has flourished thanks to the generosity of our supporters. Last year they packed and prepared 300 hampers, each filled with items to support emotional and physical wellbeing. These hampers are more than just gifts - they're a message of care and kindness.

Thanks to more than £3,000 raised through our JustGiving page and countless donations, the impact has been profound. The feedback from recipients speaks volumes:

  • “Wow, this is amazing! I didn’t think I’d get anything this year.”
  • “These gloves are perfect - I really needed them!”
  • “I wasn’t expecting a gift. Thank you so much!”

HamperNew partnerships for 2024
They are thrilled to welcome new partners. A local secondary school in Exeter has joined them, and a local small business has chosen to focus on our project this year. Dunelm in Exeter also continues to be a strong supporter, collecting toiletries and promoting our project year-round.

How you can help
As they prepare for this year’s hamper project, we invite you to contribute in two key ways:

  • Amazon Wish List: Help us by purchasing items from our carefully selected Amazon Wish List. Every gift adds to the joy and comfort we can provide.
  • JustGiving Page: Monetary donations are essential. Contribute through our updated JustGiving page to help us fund and expand this initiative.

Looking forward
Jade Simmons, Clinical Team Manager for Children in Care and Care Experienced Adults and Laura Bryant, Child in Care Nurse said: "We extend our deepest thanks to everyone who has supported us in the past and to those joining us this year. This project wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of individuals, charities, organisations, and volunteers who believe in the power of giving. Let’s make this year’s hampers the best yet! Stay tuned for updates—we have exciting plans ahead."
