Devon Partnership NHS Trust, which provides specialist mental health services in Devon, is urging local people to think about becoming a governor as the organisation approaches becoming an NHS Foundation Trust.
The deadline for nominations to stand for election to the Council of Governors is 2 March and the organisation is keen to find people from across the county to participate.
Chief Executive Iain Tulley said: “Becoming a Foundation Trust is about becoming more accountable to the communities that we serve, and giving local people a greater say in what we do and how we do it. The importance of good mental health and emotional wellbeing has never been higher on the national agenda. We are urging people to become governors so that they can champion the cause of mental health and hold us to account when they believe that services need to be changed or improved.”
The Trust will be holding four informal drop-in sessions around the county, where people can speak to staff, learn more about the work of the organisation and find out more about becoming a governor. People can drop-in at any time between 5.30 and 7.30pm:
Wonford House, Exeter – Thursday 16 February
The Cedars Inn, Barnstaple – Monday 20 February
Livermead House Hotel, Torquay – Wednesday 22 February
The Water Mark Conference Centre, Ivybridge – Thursday 23 February
