IDEAL2 Study – Living well and enhancing active life - The IDEAL2 study aimed to provide evidence about living well with dementia, service use and areas of unmet need for people living with dementia. Although the data is still being analysed, they have launched a “Dementia Toolkit” and have a series of publication summaries on their website.

SYMBAD - The SYMBAD trial was a study of mirtazapine for agitation in Dementia. DPT were part of the multi-centre trial to assess the safety, clinical and cost effectiveness of mirtazapine in patients with Alzhiemer’s disease and agitated behaviours. The results of the study have recently been published, finding mirtazapine ineffective at reducing agitation symptoms. Full details available in the Lancet.
AD Genetics - AD Genetics involved researchers analysing the genome of more than 100,000 people with Alzheimer’s disease, then comparing them with over 600,000 healthy individuals to look for difference in genetic makeup. They identified 42 new genes associated with Alzheimer’s disease. Tje link to news article can be found here.
