Step 1 - Proactive care
Our focus is on achieving proactive, rather than reactive care for our patients.
This includes knowing potential risks that might contribute to patient's deterioration and, importantly, how to predict and avoid these risks.
Interventions:
DASA (Dynamic Appraisal of Situational Aggression). We use DASA to predict and prevent the escalation of violence and aggression.
Zoning is a "RAG" rated system to help staff quickly identify patients' needs and interventions required to reduce risk.
Risk Management focuses on how to quickly identify risk and manage it in the early stages of admission when patients are most at risk.
